Venue and Travel
The Excited Colloquium will take place in the foyer and lecture halls at Emil-Figge-Straße 50, TU Dortmund University. Free parking is available all day in the immediate vicinity of the venue.
Arriving by train and public transport
There are express train connections to Dortmund Central Station at least once an hour from numerous major cities. Within North Rhine-Westphalia, you can also use local transport connections with more frequent services. Train tickets can be purchased from ticket machines at stations or online.
TU Dortmund University is connected directly to Dortmund Central Station and to Düsseldorf/Duisburg/Essen via the S1 S-Bahn line (Dortmund Universität stop).
Travelling by car
The campus of the TU Dortmund University is located near the Dortmund West Autobahn junction, where the Sauerland line A45 crosses the Ruhrschnellweg B1/A40. When travelling from the south via the A45, take the Dortmund-Eichlinghofen exit to the campus; from the east and west via the A40, take the Dortmund-Dorstfeld or Dortmund-Barop exit.
Free parking is available 24/7 on Emil-Figge-Straße (opposite Emil-Figge-Straße 50, 44227 Dortmund) and on Vogelpothsweg (adjacent to Vogelpothsweg 85, 44227 Dortmund).
Accomodation
We have reserved a limited number of rooms at two hotels (Hotel NH Dortmund1) and Ibis Dortmund City2)), both of which offer easy access to TU Dortmund University via public transportation as well as good connections to the city center and Dortmund Hauptbahnhof.
1) Hotel NH Dortmund (Königswall 1, 44137 Dortmund)
Access to TU Dortmund via Dortmund Hauptbahnhof (approx. 400 m walk from the hotel); take the S-Bahn S1 to Dortmund Universitaet S (travel time approx. 6 minutes).
20 single rooms (105.00 EUR per night), 30 double rooms (130.00 EUR per night), available through August 6, 2026; after that, a reduced number of rooms will be available.

Access to TU Dortmund via the “Märkische Straße” subway station (approx. 400 m walk from the hotel; connections to lines U41, U45, U47, U49) to Dortmund Hauptbahnhof, from there, take the S-Bahn S1 to Dortmund Universitaet S (travel time approx. 20–25 minutes).
