General framework conditions

The event pages are realized within the TYPO3 installation of TU Dortmund University. On this topic page you will find an overview of the special rules that apply to these pages.

Domain and event abbreviation

Each event is listed under the domain "veranstaltungen.tu-dortmund.de". By adding the event abbreviation, a unique URL is created under which the event website can be accessed.
Example: veranstaltungen.tu-dortmund.de/veranstaltungskürzel/

The event abbreviation can no longer be changed once the website has been created. If desired, the creation of a separate alias can be checked. This then redirects to the actual URL.

Rights and roles

There are only two roles for event pages:

  • Webadmin
  • Editor Plus

Webadmins do not have all the rights that they have with normal TYPO3 sites:

  • There is no access to the event administration.
  • No accounts can be created for editors. New accounts for web admins and editors are created by the ITMC web team.

The rights for event websites are different from those for normal TYPO3 sites. Therefore, there cannot be a web admin account that has access to normal TYPO3 sites and event websites. Web admins always receive a separate account for the event website.

The following applies to editor accounts: If there is already an account with the "Editor Plus" role, the web team will add access to the event website to the existing account.

Translation

All event websites have German as the leading language and can be translated into English. It is not possible to change the leading language.

All event websites follow the single-tree approach. Further information on the single-tree approach can be found on our documentation portal.

What does this mean for event websites that are primarily to be provided in English?

All pages of the website must first be created in German, as this is the leading language. They can then be translated into English. The link to the English homepage can then be shared for external communication.

Important: Please do not include any English content on pages that are actually in German. This has several negative effects.

  • It is not barrier-free.
  • The website will be devalued in external search engines.
  • Visitors to the website will be confused.
